Riga Dinamo defenseman Mathew Maione (Canada) has received the most votes for the Kontinental Hockey League's (KHL) All-Star Game; furthermore, Dinamo forward Linus Videll has also been voted into the Bobrov Division's starting line for the match, informed LETA/BNS.

The fans' vote came to a close on Wednesday, and most of the fans - 2,536 - voted for Maione. The Canadian has been Dinamo's leader this season and, with six goals and 21 assists in 25 matches, he is the entire league's highest-scoring defenseman. On the other hand, Videl received 1,314 votes.

"It is a real surprise for me. I really appreciate that the fans love my style of hockey and vote for me. I am happy that I could be at this event with great players. I don't think that I would have enough time to prepare some tricks, but I do everything to entertain fans," said Maione.

The other forward and defenseman selected for Bobrov Division by fans are Nikita Gusev and Patrik Hersley (both from SKA).

Tarasov Division will be represented by defensemen Nikita Nesterov (CSKA) and Jakub Nakladal (Lokomotiv) and forwards Kirill Kaprizov (CSKA) and Andrei Loktionov (Lokomotiv) at the KHL All-Star Game.

Defensemen Paul Postma (Ak Bars) and Nikita Tryamkin (Avtomobilist) and forwards Nigel Dawes (Avtomobilist) and Sergei Mozyakin will represent the Kharlamov Division, while Defensemen Darren Dietz (Barys) and Philip Larsen and forwards Sergei Shirokov (Avangard) and Ilya Mikheyev (Avangard) will represent the Chernyshev Division.

The second stage of the selection process will be the journalists' vote, in which members of the media will select the starting goaltender, plus one defenseman and one forward, for each Division. Later KHL sporting department will choose the latest players for All-Star weekend. The final 44 players' list will be unveiled on December 19. Best players of JHL Challenge Cup would fill the four remaining spots in the teams.

The KHL All-Star Week will be taking place on January 19 and 20 in three cities in Tatarstan - Kazan, Nizhnekamsk and Almetyevsk.

Last season, Riga Dinamo was represented by forward Miks Indrasis at the KHL All-Star Game that took place in Astana.
