 Olle Dahlin of Sweden was elected president of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) today for a four-year term, the IBU announced.

39 participants in the IBU Congress today voted for Dahlin, while 12 supported his rival - Baiba Broka, head of the Latvian Biathlon Federation.

Dahlin previously served as the IBU vice president for development, he was also a member of the IBU board. Dahlin is also the head of the Swedish Biathlon Federation. Broka, on the other hand, works on the IBU Legal Committee.

As reported, the previous IBU President Anders Besseberg, who had been running the union since 1993, stepped down after a criminal probe on corruption was opened this past April.
