"During the joint sitting on August 21, regional cooperation between Estonia and Latvia, strengthening of regional security, common projects in energy and transport infrastructure, cooperation in digital matters and topical European Union affairs will come under discussion," spokesperson for the Estonian government Triin Oppi told.

In addition, the interior ministers of the two countries will sign an agreement on data exchanges between population registers, the ministers of foreign affairs will deliver the prize for promoting the Estonian and Latvian languages, and members of the Estonian government will present books to the Latvian National Library.

The joint sitting will be held in the building of the Latvian National Library.

This is the first time ever for the governments of Estonia and Latvia to hold a joint sitting.

Similarly on the occasion of the centennial of the two countries, the governments of Estonia and Finland held a joint sitting in Tallinn on May 7 this year.
