The current heatwave is forecast to continue in Latvia throughout this and into next week, LETA was told at the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center.

In the second half of this week, the weather will remain extremely hot in most of Latvia with temperatures ranging between plus 27 and plus 31 degrees centigrade. At the weekend, the heat will be mainly affecting western parts of Latvia.

The heatwave is expected to continue also next week, meteorologists said.
