Firefighters have been battling a major forest fire in Valdgale County, Talsi Region, for sixteen hours now, the State Fire and Rescue Service's representative Inta Palkavniece told LETA.

She said that the fire had spread over an area of about 100 hectares.

Firefighters are assisted by a National Armed Forces helicopter, a local business, and the State Forest Service.
