Latvia’s second-best ranked lady tennis player Anastasija Sevastova on Tuesday won her the first-round match of the Mallorca Open (Mallorca WTA International) advancing to the second round of the tournament she won a year ago, informs LETA.

Sevastova, currently sitting in the 20th position of the WTA ranking, beat Russian tennis player Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-3, 63, earning 30 WTA ranking points.

In the second round of the tournament, Sevastova will be playing Germany’s Antonia Lottner, currently in 140th place in the WTA ranking. Lottner received entry from the qualifying draw.

Sevastova won last year’s Mallorca WTA International series tennis tournament, defeating Germany's Julia Goerges 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the final.

This was Sevastova's second WTA title, and first since 2010.
