VEF Riga loses first VTB United League 1/4 match
Print versionLatvian basketball champions VEF Riga lost by Moscow CSKA 83:112 (25:28, 20:29, 18:26, 20:29) in their first VTB United League quarterfinal game in Liepaja on Thursday, informs LETA.
Kaspars Berzins led VEF Riga with 20 points and seven rebounds, Mareks Mejeris had 16 points and Alex Perez five assists. On the other hand, Nando De Colo and Will Clyburn scored 15 points each for CSKA, while Victor Khryapa and Othello Hunter scored 14 points apiece.
The match was played in Liepaja as Arena Riga was unavailable yesterday. The next game will be in Moscow on May 29.
In the regular VTB United League season, VEF Riga placed eighth with eight wins from 24 games. On the other hand, CSKA placed first with 22 wins.
This is the third time VEF Riga has qualified for VTB United League playoffs.
