Ratu Hemas, queen consort of the Kingdom of Yogyakarta, a special region in Indonesia, along with a delegation is to visit the University of Tartu on Thursday, informs LETA/BNS.

The visitors will be accompanied by chairman of the university's council Ruth Oltjer and Indonesia's honorary consul in Estonia, Heldur Allese. Allese said that the aim of the visit is to have a look at Tartu, discuss possible cooperation as well as introduce Indonesia.

There are currently three students from Indonesia studying at the University of Tartu. Exchange of the students and teaching staff of the University of Tartu and Indonesian universities is supported by the Erasmus+ program.

Indonesia has 34 provinces, of which five have a special status. On of the provinces with a special status is the region of Yogyakarta. Sultan Hamengkubuwono X is the sultan of the historic Yogyakarta Sultanate and since 1998 is the elected governor of the modern Yogyakarta Special Region. His wife, Ratu Hemas, is the queen consort of the Kingdom of Yogyakarta.
