Latvia will play Russia in Federation Cup playoffs

Print versionLatvia will play Russia in April's Federation Cup playoffs to earn promotion to the World Group II, according to the draw.
These matches will be played in Russia on April 21 and 22.
The Latvian squad, led by world nr 6 Alona Ostapenko and world nr 15 Anastasija Sevastova, last week triumphed in its Europe/Africa Zone I group to earn a place in the World Group playoffs.
In the other World Group II pairs, Paraguay will play Spain, Ukraine will play Canada, while Great Britain will play Japan
The Latvian women's tennis team has not played in the World Group since 1994.
