Croatian soldier's body flown from Lithuania to Zagreb
The body of a Croatian soldier who died in Rukla, a town in central
Lithuania where NATO's multinational battalion is based, on Wednesday was flown
by a Lithuanian military transport plane to Zagreb, the Lithuanian Defense
Ministry said LETA/BNS.
German, Belgian, Croatian, Luxembourgian, Dutch and Norwegian troops serving
in the battalion and Lithuanian troops earlier in the day took part in a
ceremony to pay homage to the Croatian soldier.
Lithuania's Chief of Defense Lieutenant General Jonas Vytautas Zukas has
been informed by his Croatian counterpart in a letter that Croatian authorities
plan to carry out a further investigation into the circumstances of the
soldier's death.
The Croatian man on Tuesday was found dead by other soldiers in his room in
the barracks. According to preliminary information, his death was not violent.
The man's family have been notified of his death.
Croatia deployed its soldiers to contribute to the NATO enhanced Forward
Presence Battalion Battle Group in Lithuania in early December.
