Suharevs takes gold at European Junior Weightlifting Championship

Print versionLatvia's Ritvars Suharevs on Wednesday triumphed at the European Junior Weightlifting Championship in Albania, informs LETA.
In the 77 kilogram division, the 18-year-old Suharevs lifted 154 kilograms in snatch and 179 kilograms in clean and jerk, finishing first overall with a total result of 333 kilograms.
Viacheslav Iarkin (Russia) won silver with 332 kilograms and Celil Erdogdu (Turkey) bronze with 323 kilograms.
Suharevs won silver at the European Junior Championships in both 2016 and 2015. This past summer, Suharevs placed fourth at the World Junior Championship.
As reported, Latvia's Rebeka Koha convincingly won gold at the European Junior Weightlifting Championship for women on Tuesday.
