Latvians most keen to go to theater this fall

BC, Riga, 21.09.2017.Print version

More than a half or 56% of Latvia's population aged 18-55 years would like to go to a theater during the cultural season this fall, according to a public opinion poll carried out by Kantar pollster in September, cites LETA.

More than one-third of the respondents or 36% would like to attend some pop music concert, and 16% would prefer to see an opera, a ballet or an art exhibition. About one-tenth want to go to festivals, creative workshops or classical music concerts.

About 17% of the respondents could not say whether they would like to attend some cultural events this fall and what kind of events they wanted to see most of all.

Women tended to show more interest in theater and creative workshops while men tended to be more undecided about their choice of cultural events. Rigans would choose opera or ballet more frequently than the respondents living outside the Latvian capital.

Only 1% of the respondents said they had no intention of going to any of the suggested cultural events.

Compared to a similar poll conducted in fall 2016, the preferences of Latvians have remained unchanged with theater and pop concerts still being the most popular cultural events.

The online poll was carried out on September 12-14, 2017, among 900 residents of Latvia in the economically active age between 18 years and 55 years throughout the country.
