BC, Riga, 12.09.2017.Print version

Latvian stage director Alvis Hermanis, Russian rock veteran Boris Grebenshchikov and Russian filmmakers Vitaly Mansky and Ivan Vyripaev will take part in the dialogues with His Holiness the Dalai Lama who will deliver his teachings at the Skonto Hall in Riga on September 25, Evija Ansonska, a representative of the event’s organizers, told LETA.

She said that the Dalai Lama champions the idea of the unity of all mankind over less significant “secondary differences between people” like nationality, religion, education and income levels.

All the guests of the Riga meeting have already met the Dalai Lama before, but Mansky has visited his residence in northern India where he shot the documentary Sunrise/Sunset: Dalai Lama XIV. The Russian director was given the opportunity to film one day of the Tibetan spiritual leader’s life, which started at 3 a.m. and ended at sundown.

Vyripaev will be hosting the event in Riga, with Grebenshchikov and Alexey Zubarev scheduled to round it out with a musical performance.

As reported, the teachings of the Dalai Lama that the exiled spiritual leader of the Tibetan people was originally scheduled to deliver during his visit to Latvia in October this year, have been moved to September 23-25.

On September 23, the Dalai Lama will give a news conference and start his teachings, which he will continue until September 25.
