Latvia beats Italy at EuroBasket, takes ticket to FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018

8th place in 2017 Eurobasket Women and for the first time in the team's history
won a ticket to the World Cup which will take place in Spain next year, reports LETA.
Latvia wrestled the victory from Italy in a thriller on
Saturday with 68:67 (18:18, 19:24, 16:11, 15:14).
Aija Putnina and Kristine Vitola each contributed 15 points
to the victory of Team Latvia.
On Sunday, Latvia will be playing the winner of the game
between Turkey and Slovakia for the fifth place in 2017 Eurobasket Women.
Latvian ladies, coached by Martins Zibarts, have been doing
quite well in this year's Eurobasket. They lost to Russia, Belgium and Spain
but beat Montenegro and Serbia.
So far Latvia's best performance in Eurobasket Women was the
forth place in 2007.
