Dinamo sign Canadian forward Lessio
Print versionLatvian ice hockey club Riga Dinamo has signed Canadian forward Lucas Lessio, informed LETA/BNS.
The 24-year-old Lessio played for Croatian club Zagreb Medvescak and Swedish club Orebro last season.
He was drafted in the 2011 NHL Draft with the 56th pick by the Arizona Coyotes, and has played in 41 NHL games for the Coyotes and Montreal Canadiens, scoring three goals and making four assists.
In 40 Kontinental Ice Hockey League matches for Medvescak last season, Lession scored 12 goals and made 10 assists.
He joined Orebro near the end of last season after the Croatian club began to suffer from financial problems.
Dinamo finished in last place in the KHL's Western Conference standings last season and did not qualify for the league playoffs for the third season in a row.
