Lithuanian police search for man suspected of kiling his family
A manhunt is underway for a 27-year-old man
suspected of fatally shooting four members of his family and wounding another
in their home in the village of Gaizenai in the district of Kaunas, reports
LETA/BNS. The man's mother, father, grandmother and father's brother
were found dead on Monday evening. His great-grandfather was found with a
gunshot wound in his leg. Experts say that they were probably killed before
Monday. The suspect, who is possibly armed, was not found as of
Tuesday morning. Police found two guns in a locked safe in the family's house
and another safe that was opened and empty. The bodies of the suspect's father, born in 1967, mother,
born in 1968, grandmother, born in 1942, and father's brother, born in 1979,
were found at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. His wounded great-grandfather was taken to a
hospital in a state of shock. Lithuania's authorities have launched an international
search for a 27-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting four members of his
family, a spokesman for the Police Department Ramunas Matonis said on Tuesday
morning. The suspect was put on the international wanted list on
Monday evening,. Police have expanded their manhunt for the suspect, who is
possibly armed, to other districts of Lithuania after forensic experts at the
murder scene established that the shooting had occurred before Monday.
