Dairis Bertans scores 29 points as Darussafaka beats Baskonia in EuroLeague match

Latvian shooting guard Dairis Bertans scored 29 points to help his Istanbul Darussafaka Dogus beat Vitoria Gasteiz Baskonia 98:89 (20:24, 27:22, 30:22, 21:21) in a EuroLeague match on Thursday, writes LETA.


Bertans was on the floor for 26 minutes, setting career-high 29 points - almost doubling his previous best of fifteen points, to become the highest scorer for Darussafaka. He also had five assists. Adam Hanga led the way for Baskonia with nineteen points.


In another EuroLeague game yesterday, Latvian point guard Janis Strelnieks scored thirteen points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished six assists, but his Bamberg Brose lost to Kazan Unics 58:63 (20:13, 16:17, 11:16, 11:17).


Strelnieks was the highest-scoring player for Brose, while Keith Langford scored 27 points for Unics.


In ULEB EuroLeague standings at the moment, Darussafaka is in seventh place with nine wins and eight losses, while Brose is in eleventh place with seven wins. Tel Aviv Maccabi FOX, coached by Latvia's Ainars Bagatskis, is in fourteenth place with six wins.
