BC, Riga, 10.01.2017.Print version

Latvian goaltender Kristers Gudlevskis has been called back up to the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning, writes LETA.

Gudlevskis has been called up from the Lightning's AHL farm-club - the Syracuse Crunch.

This is the second time Gudlevskis has been called up to the Lightning this season.

Gudlevskis was called up to the Lightning on December 22 after goalie Ben Bishop suffered an injury, and only took the ice for 12 minutes in one game when replacing goalie Andrei Vasilevski when the score was already 0:4 against the Washington Capitals.

He was sent back down to the AHL two weeks later.

In 16 games for the Crunch this season, Gudlevskis has allowed on average 2.82 goals per game with a 88.2 percent save percentage.

Gudlevskis was also called up several times to the Lightning last season, but only played in one match - a 0:1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks in October.

The Lightning are currently in 12th place in the NHL's Eastern Conference with 42 points from 42 matches.

Gudlevskis was selected by the Lightning with the 124th pick in the 2013 NHL Draft.
