Latvian basketball club TTT Riga took a big step forward in qualifying for the next round of this season's FIBA Women's Eurocup tournament today by defeating Russian basketball club Novosibirsk Dynamo 65:56.

Gunta Basko-Melbarde was the highest scorer for the Latvian club with 20 points and 12 rebounds, followed by Giedre Paugaite with 17 points.

Meanwhile, Tamara Tatum led the way for the home side with 23 points.

TTT Riga is in Eurocup Group C together with Turkish club Istanbul Galatasaray, Dynamo, and Turkish club Samsun Canik.

If Galatasaray defeats Canik tonight in the other group match, TTT Riga will have already ensured itself a place in the tournament's next stage despite the result of the club's final group match next week against Canik.

In the Group C standings, Galatasaray currently has four wins and zero losses, followed by TTT Riga with three wins and two losses, Dynamo with one win and four losses and Canik with one win and three losses.

The top two teams in the group will advance to the tournament's next stage.
