Swedish-Estonian animation film to screen at Venice International Film Festival

Swedish-Estonian short animated film Amalimbo has been chosen as part of the Orizzonti program of short films of the 73rd Venice International Film Festival, write LETA/BNS.


'Amalimbo' was written and directed by Juan Pablo Libossart, an Argentinian living in Stockholm, and its artist and main animator is Estonian Roland Seer. The 15-minute film is a story of Tipuana, a five-year-old girl who experiences "the limbo" when she tries to pass on the "the other side" in her desperate urge to mourn the recent death of her beloved father. The genre of the story is fantasy and the technique is 2D animation.


The film was produced by Fasad and Fork Film.


The 73rd Venice International Film Festival takes place in Italy from Aug. 31 to Sept. 10. Previous Estonian films to be included in the program of the film festival are Veiko Ounpuu's 'Autumn Ball' in 2007 and Tanel Toom's 'The Second Coming' in 2008.
