Ventspils opens Europa League qualification with win

Print versionLatvian football club Ventspils opened its UEFA Europa League qualification campaign last night with a 2:0 win over Leirvik Vikingur Gota (Faroe Islands), informs LETA.
Girts Karlsons scored both goals for the Latvian club.
The second-leg match will be played next week in the Faroe Islands. The winner on aggregate will advance to the second qualification round.
In order to qualify for the main tournament, a football club must advance in three qualification rounds and then win a playoff match-up.
