BC, Vilnius, 31.05.2016.Print version

Former members of Lithuania's anti-Soviet resistance movement have found documents of the Satrija partisan territorial unit in the district of Telsiai, in the northwestern part of the country, LNK Television reported on Monday, cites LETA/BNS.

The documents were put into the magazine of a firearm and buried.

Adomas Gedvilas, a former partisan messenger, thinks that the passports of all partisans of the unit and other important documents were hidden in the magazine.

The documents will be handed over to archivists.

Around 50,000 Lithuanians, also known as "Forest Brothers", took part in the anti-Soviet resistance movement in post-war Lithuania.

More than 21,000 partisans, their family members and supporters were killed during the postwar rule of Soviet dictator Josef Stalin.
