Tickets to the acclaimed Riga-born ballet dancer and actor Mikhail Baryshnikov's new solo show "Letter to a Man" will go on sale on May 25th, informs LETA.

Tickets to the August 3, 4 and 7 performances will cost between EUR 30 to 200, while tickets to the August 5 and 6 performances will costs between EUR 70 to 250.

Tickets will be sold through the Bilesu Serviss ticketing system and on-line at bilesuserviss.lv.

The five performances of the solo show will take place at the Latvian National Opera and Ballet (LNOB) house, Andrejs Zagars, a former director of the Latvian National Opera who know heads a foundation bearing his name, said earlier.

Baryshnikov told journalists previously that there is no choreography in the production but that it is full of improvisation revealing the personality and emotions of the 20th century's greatest dancer Vaslav Nijinsky.

The solo show about Nijinsky has been created in collaboration with the world-famous American stage director Robert Wilson whom Baryshnikov described as a very demanding director, saying that it was a challenge to work with him.

The show features voice recordings and live texts spoken in Russian and English by Baryshnikov.

The production is based on Nijinsky's journal he kept in 1919. The entries in the journal document the artist's emotional experiences and mental disintegration. Nijinsky died in 1950 after 30 years spent in a mental institution.

"Letter to a Man" premiered in July 2015 in Italy with great success. Baryshnikov embarked on a world tour with the solo show, including in it also Latvia.

The guest performances in Riga are organized by the Andrejs Zagars Culture Support and Development Fund.
