The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially confirmed that a 46-year-old Lithuanian tourist drowned in the Spanish region of Catalonia on Tuesday, reports LETA/ELTA.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received official information about the death of a 46-year-old Lithuanian citizen in Spain. The Lithuanian tourist drowned at sea off the coast of Lloret de Mar. Lithuania's consulate in Valencia is providing assistance to a company that will repatriate the body," news agency ELTA learned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Spanish media reported that the accident happened on Tuesday after 7 a.m. local time. Two women decided to take a swim in the sea after breakfast. One of the tourists managed to come back to the shore safely on her own. The body of another woman was later found from a coast guard helicopter. A green flag was hoisted in the beach in the morning, indicating that it was safe to swim in the sea.
