Two Latvian women, who were hiking the Tatra Mountains in Slovakia, died on the night from Saturday to Sunday, as the local Slovakian media report, cites LETA.

It is likely that the women froze to death.

They were part of a 50-person group, but got lost on the way and did not return with the rest of the group.

Rescuers began searching for the women on Saturday night and found them dead.

The Latvian Foreign Ministry's Press Secretary Raimonds Jansons said that the ministry has contacted a close relative of one of the women. "We currently have information that an Impro tourist group went on a trip to Slovakia, and hiking was included in the agency's tourist offer," said Jansons.
