The first week of conscripts in Klaipeda passed without any problems

BC, Vilnius, 02.09.2015.Print version

The first week of conscripts in Klaipeda passed without any major problems. Volunteers successfully continue their service at the Lithuanian Grand Duke Butigeidis Dragoon Training Battalion, reports LETA/ELTA, referring to the daily Klaipeda.

However, they will be allowed short holidays home only after an oath on 11 September. A little more than a week ago, 495 young men and women started their mandatory military service in Klaipeda.

According to Rasa Tautaviciute, the battalion's representative, "they are doing fine", yet, "every person is feeling differently – some sleep well, some do not". She says that so far no complaints have been received from volunteer draftees: they all are ready for service and their motivation is only growing. Currently, future infantry soldiers are learning marching and getting themselves familiarised with weapons, their characteristics and security.
