One of Latvia's best female tennis players Anastasija Sevastova got her first WTA victory on Tuesday after coming out of retirement earlier this year, reports LETA.

Sevastova defeated American Louisa Chirico 6-1, 6-4 in the first-round of the Florianapolis WTA 'International tennis tournament.

At the moment, Sevastova is ranked 188th in the WTA rankings, while Chirico is ranked 125th.

Sevastova has earned 30 WTA ranking points for advancing to the Florianapolis tournament's second-round.

As reported, Sevastova announced her retirement from professional tennis in May of 2013, while she was just 23-years-old. At the time, Sevastova said that her decision came due to the various ailments and injuries that have plagued her the past three years.

At her pinnacle, Sevastova was ranked 36th in the world, but was ranked 148th when she announced her retirement.

Since coming out of retirement earlier this year, Sevastova has gradually been moving up in the WTA rankings.
