Ballet troupe from "Teatro di Milano" gave a performance for the first time ever in Latvia during the "Jurmala Festival", in Dzintari Concert Hall, Dace Ankipane, representative of the concert hall, told LETA.

"Viva Verdi" is one of the troupe's most famous and acclaimed productions, where 20 dancers try to find the answer to the question: "What would have happened to ballet if Giuseppe Verdi had composed for it?"

The production contains the beautiful Verdi arias played by orchestra from the operas "Aida", "Macbeth", "Attila", "I Vespri Siciliani" "Otello", and "La Traviata". The dances have both a classical and modern touch to them.

The evening marked the debut of the "Jurmala Festival" Orchestra as accompanist for a ballet performance. The conductor was Valters Borins, who is also known as pianist, composer, and singer.

As reported, the "Jurmala Festival" is under way at Dzintari Concert Hall through July 26.
