BC, Tallinn, 03.07.2015.Print version

Colleagues erected in the mountains of Peru a commemorative plaque dedicated to the three Estonian mountain climbers who were killed there on June 7 this year, LETA/Delfi reports.

The memorial plaque to Jane and Tarmo Riga and Allan Valge was erected in the Ishinca base camp, which is located 4,350 meters high in the mountain Tocllaraju, alpinists' social media site alpinism.ee reported.

The memorial plaque cites, among other things, a poem by Jaan Kaplinski "I was born in lowland".

The tragic accident happened on June 7 this year, when four Estonian mountaineers, Annemai Märtson, Tarmo Riga and his wife Jane Riga and Allan Valge were hit by an avalanche of snow. Only Annemai Märtson was found alive. The bodies of Tarmo Riga and Allan Valge were found at the end of June but the body of Jane Riga is still missing.
