Gulbis loses close one in second round of French Open

It was a tight match between Ernests Gulbis (Latvia) and Nicholas Mahut (France) yesterday at the French Open but the hometown contender emerged victorious 3-6, 6-3, 5-7, 3-6, knocking Gulbis out of further play, informs LETA.
Gulbis, who is having a dismal year for reasons clear and unclear, now must brace himself for a significant tumble in the ATP ranking next week – about 60 notches.
At this time, he is 29th in the world; this year he has enjoyed victory in only 3 of 16 matches.
