Kohver's trial starts on June 2 in Pskov

The court trial of Estonian Security Police official Eston Kohver, who is in prison in Moscow starts in the Pskov Oblast Court House on June 2, Kohver's lawyer Yevgeny Aksyonov told Estonian public television ETV, cites LETA.

 

Aksyonov, who continues as Kohver's defender, could not forecast how long the process may last since there are five files in the criminal case, a total of about 1,500 pages.

 

Aksyonov said that Kohver is accused of espionage, arms smuggling and illegal border crossing.


Kohver can face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

 

Estonian Security Police official Eston Kohver was abducted at gunpoint on 5 September last year near the Russian border in Estonia while fulfilling his official duties, by persons who came from Russia and was led across the border to Russia. Kohver is detained in Lefortovo prison in Moscow, being accused of espionage.
