President of Estonia Toomas Hendrik Ilves met in Kadriorg with Timothy Snyder, Professor of History at Yale University, who has done an excellent job in detailing the 20th century history of Europe, and in particular Eastern Europe, and presented him with the Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana, Class III, reported BC presidential press service.

The Head of State decided to give Professor Snyder an honorary decoration of the Republic of Estonia this year, on the eve of Independence Day, to acknowledge his work as a scientist who focuses on the history of Central and Eastern Europe and the author of a highly regarded book that describes the recent history of Europe, "Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin".
