The Spanish basketball giant "Barcelona" has signed a pre-contract with the Latvian basketball player Davis Bertans, reports LETA, according to an article published by Ara.cat.

The 22-year-old-forward is currently recovering from a knee injury, and will return to the court next season. He currently plays for Vitoria "Laboral Kutxa".

According to Ara.cat, "Barcelona" has made a partial agreement with "Laboral Kutxa", stipulating stricter medical clearance requirements. Last year, Bertans signed a three-year contract with "Laboral Kutxa". If the teams manage to reach an agreement, "Barcelona" will have to compensate Bertans' transfer.

As reported, Bertans underwent a surgery in San Antonio in end-April to fix his ACL injury. Bertans was drafted by the San Antonio "Spurs" during the 2011 NBA Draft, becoming only the second Latvian ever drafted by an NBA team.

Bertans tore an ACL in his knee back in 2013, which sidelined him for nine months. He only returned to action at the end of last season.

In 22 Euroleague matches this season, Bertans was averaging 11 points and 2.9 rebounds per game for "Laboral Kutxa".
