Swedish Days in Latvian Balvi

The Swedish Day in Latvian town Balvi will be the second Swedish Day held in 2015. The first one was held in Jelgava the 17th of March.

 

During the visit a meeting with the head of the Balvi municipality, Mr. Andris Kazinovskis, will take place.

 

The ambassador, Mr. Henrik Landerholm will give a lecture on the Swedish Family model at Balvi Professional School for teacher, students and all interested.

 

There will be a visit to the North Latgale Business Centre, Ltd Eco Fabrika and Ltd Kalna Nami.

 

The opening of the three exhibitions – Life Puzzle, Facing the Climate and Sweden from a Bird’s Eye View will be held during the inauguration day on April 23rd, as well as the opening of the Swedish film festival. The film Road’s End by the Swedish director Maud Nycander will be screened.

 

12.00-12.50  Opening of the exhibition Facing the Climate at Balvi Professional High School, Vidzemes iela 26. A group of Swedish and Latvian cartoonists offer some amusing and alarming reflections on the climate issue. Satire and humor are mixed with a genuine appeal for a more responsible attitude towards the issue.

 

14.05-14.50  Opening of the exhibition Life Puzzle at Balvi State Gymnasium. The Swedish ambassador, Mr. Henrik Landerholm, will give a lecture about the Swedish family model, Dārza iela 2. Life Puzzle is an exhibition on parenthood and fatherhood. It deals with the challenges of combining parenthood, career, domestic life and economy as well as aspirations concerning equality. What can be done by the society and the individuals?..

 

14.55-15.50  Opening of the photo exhibition Sweden from a Bird’s Eye View by Swedish Photographer Dmitrij Karpenko, Vidzemes iela 2B. In this exhibition, Swedish-Russian photographer Dmitrij Karpenko presents 50 spectacular photographs of Stockholm and the area around Lake Mälaren. The pictures are taken by Karpenko from on-board his own Cessna aircraft.

 

17.05-18.30  Opening of the Swedish Film festival in Balvi with the screening of the documentary by Maud Nycander “Road’s End” at the Balvi Regional Museum, Brīvības iela 46.
