Drafting in Lithuania to start on 11 May

Lithuanian National Defence Minister Juozas Olekas has signed an order under which drafting in Lithuania begins on 11 May, 2015, reports LETA/ELTA.
On 11 May, in the presence of society's representatives, the list of draftees will be compiled and drafting notices will mailed to them. This year, around 3,000 conscripts will be called: some of them will come voluntarily, others will be called up.
Volunteers will be the first ones to be drafted. If there number of volunteer conscripts is not sufficient only then male citizens aged from 19 to 26 inclusive will be drafted. The list of conscripts will be compiled randomly with the help of a computer program.
A detailed drafting plan, approved by the Chief of Defence of the Republic of Lithuania, will be prepared and made public in early April.
