On Tuesday, 24 March 2015, newly elected Member of Parliament Sarunas Gustainis, a representative of the Liberal Movement, gave an oath during a plenary sitting of the Seimas, informs LETA/ELTA.

Gustainis won the election in Vilnius' Zirmunai single member constituency beating conservative Radvile Morkunaite-Mikuleniene in the second round of voting.

The member of parliament was sworn in by Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Dainius Zalimas. Gustainis has joined the Liberal Movement political group.

The 39-year-old politician says that Lithuania should open its doors to foreign investors wider, more service centres could be established not only in Vilnius but across Lithuania.

Gustainis says one of his priorities is putting forward legal amendments that would help attract investments. This would enable solving social problems, create well-paid jobs. Another goal is to strive that municipal and state enterprises would become profitable and their boards of directors would be depoliticised. Furthermore, equal and fair conditions must be created for all business companies in order to drive the economic engine in Vilnius and Lithuania.

In 2006 Gustainis contributed to finding the Liberal Movement. In 2009-2012 he was advisor to the-then minister of transport and communications Eligijus Masiulis and was responsible for providing proposals on improvement of Lithuania's transportation system. In 2010 Gustainis established the Institute for Applied Policy which implements projects connecting politics, business and science.

As reported, the election of a single representative to the Seimas had to be held after social democratic MP Vytenis Povilas Andriukaitis left the Seimas to work as the European commissioner. The election was held together with municipal and mayoral elections of 1 March, while the second round was held on 15 March.
