Latvian stage and costume designer Monika Pormale won the Kroders Award during the annual award ceremony at the Valmiera Drama Theater yesterday.

Pormale has worked with various directors before, but she has been particularly successful in her collaborations with stage director Alvis Hermanis, the Valmiera Drama Theater spokeswoman Lija Ozolina informed LETA.

Pormale was bestowed with a figurine – a draft design for Kroders' monument – created by Aivars Vilipsons. She also received prize-money in the amount of EUR 700.

The board of Kroders' Fund had nominated 12 candidates for this year's award – Guna Zarina, Pormale, Sarmite Balode, Vladislavs Nastavsevs, Andris Keiss, Gatis Smits, Inese Kucinska, Anna Heinrihsone, Dace Eversa, Girts Krumins, Juris Zagars, and Ieva Struka.
