Continuing the Christmas tradition representatives of Lithuanian scout organisations presented the Bethlehem Flame of Peace to President Dalia Grybauskaite, reports LETA/ELTA.

"Travelling across the world, passed from hand to hand, the symbolic flame of the candle brings the message of peace, kindness and hope. Let its light spread across the cities and towns of Lithuania, unite communities, warm and provide spiritual strength," the president said.

Receiving the Bethlehem Flame of Peace, symbolising peace, the unity and friendship of humanity, the president thanked members of scout organisations as with their help the flame arrived to Lithuania for the 18th time. It arrived from Poland and will continue the journey to Latvia and Estonia.

The organisers of the campaign call for people to unite and enhance peace with common efforts, as armed conflicts take place in a number of countries this year.
