Legendary Estonian pop-singer and music teacher Jaak Joala died on Thursday at the age of 64, Estonian press reports.

Joala was found dead at his home, after being released from hospital recently, LETA/Postimees Online writes.

Jaak Joala was born on 26 June 1950 and started his music career in the age of 17 in pop-groups Kristallid.

He became famous as singer of the band Radar and in 1980s he was hugely popular in Russia and in the rest of the Soviet Union where he performed and recorded a lot. As a large part of his songs then were in Russian, he was labelled "The Kremlin Nightingale", Postimees writes.

Joala quit public performing in the middle of 1990s and became a music teacher, producer and show host.

In 2010, he was granted the White Start VI class services badge by the President of the Republic.
