Gauja's film "The Lesson" – part of Chicago International Film Festival's anniversary program

In October 2014, Latvian director Andris Gauja's first full length feature film – "The Lesson", will have its US premiere at the Chicago International Film Festival, as part of the festival's 50th anniversary, Anna Ludbarza, the press representative for the film,, informed LETA.

 

After its world premiere at the Montreal Film Festival, "The Lesson" will be screened at two more prominent cinema events the end of September – Bergen International Film Festival in Norway, and at the Russian international film festival "Film Shocks".

 

The Latvian premiere is scheduled for October 9 in the multi-plex theatre "Kino Citadele".

 

"The Lesson", filmed in a semi-documentary style, has a cast of professional actors and teenagers without any acting experience.

 

Gauja has already garnered international recognition with his 2011 documentary "Family Instinct". It was included in more than 25 film festivals across the world, and was awarded the Best Documentary of 2011 at the largest US documentary film festival "Silverdocs".
