Film screening and book exhibition dedicated to Mark Rothko in Latvia

Today at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the Ziedonis Hall of the new National Library of Latvia, screening of films "Cinema about Rothko" will take place, and a book exhibition "Printed Rothko" will open, informs LETA.
Both events are a part of the project "A Journey From Riga to Daugavpils in Rothko's Train", and is included in the program of European Capital of Culture.
The screening of films and exhibition are dedicated to the world-famous painter Mark Rothko, who was born in Daugavpils 111 years ago.
During the lectures, Izzy Morgenstern's documentary "Mark Rothko – the Abstract Expressionist", and Simon Schama's film "The Power of Art. Rothko" will be screened.
The books displayed in the exhibition "Printed Rothko" is a documentation of the artist's experiments, influences, artistic development and innovations.
The exhibition is free of charge, and will be open till September 27.
