Other events in Baltic States

The 300th anniversary of the outstanding Baltic Enlightenment activist, Kurzeme resident Gotthard Friedrich Stender will be marked by multiple events in Riga, Jelgava, Viesite and Sunakste from September 4 to September 6, reports LETA.

One of the central events will be the international scientific conference "Gotthard Friedrich Stender (1714–1796) and the Enlightenment in the Baltics in European Contexts", which will open at the University of Latvia on September 4, as the University of Latvia Professor Mara Grudule told LETA.

Researchers from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Germany, Denmark, Czech Republic and Georgia will participate in the conference, analyzing the highly prolific work of Stender in linguistics, teaching profession, art, astronomy, philosophy, theology, music, folklore, mythology, freemasonry and, of course, literature.
