"Einsturzende Neubauten" lead vocalist Blixa Bargeld to perform in Riga
During the festival "Skanu mezs 2014" (Sound Forest 2014), the lead singer of the German experimental industrial band "Einsturzende Neubauten", Blixa Bargeld will appear live in concert in downtown Riga's "Daile" Music House on October 11, as "Skanu mezs" spokesman Rihards Endriksons informed LETA.
Bargeld is a singer and composer. In 1980, he founded "Einsturzende Neubauten". The band has several studio albums, toured the world and earned cult status among fans of alternative music, Endriksons said.
Bargeld's stage name "Blixa" comes from a German brand of pens, while "Bargeld" means "cash" in German. The fictitious last name is also a reference to German Dada artist Johannes Theodor Baargeld.
Bargeld was a guitarist and backing vocalist in "Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds" for 20 years. He was also a co-vocalist in several Cave's songs, such as "The Weeping Song" and "Death is not the End".
