On Tuesday, the Latvian under-18 (U-18) men's basketball team lost to Croatia 72:92 in a qualification round match at the European U-18 Men's Basketball Championships, informs LETA.

Rauls Avenitis was the highest scorer for Latvia with 13 points, followed by Dzeiks Eduards Krumins with 12 points.

Latvia currently remains in third place in its qualification round group with two wins and two losses.

As reported, Latvia finished in second place in its preliminary round group to advance to the tournament's second group stage, or qualification round.

Latvia will play its final group match this evening against France. A win would see Latvia through to the quarterfinals. Latvia can also lose by one or two points and still advance as well.

Tonight's match will tip-off at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ''Fibaeurope.com''.

The top four finishers in the two qualification round groups will advance to the quarterfinals.

At last year's U-18 European Championships, Latvia finished in 4th place.

The roster of the Latvian U-18 men's basketball team participating at this year's European Championships is as follows: Ricards Melderis, Rauls Avenitis, Ervins Meznieks, Davis Cima, Dzeiks Eduards Krumins, Rudolfs Stradnieks, Renars Birkans, Rihards Lomazs, Arturs Grinbergs, Klavs Cavars, Zigmars Raimo and Rinalds Malmanis.
