Latvian U-18 girls through to semis at B Division Euros; will fight for promotion to Division A

The Latvian U-18 women's basketball team defeated Finland today 60:56 in overtime at the European U-18 B Division Women's Basketball Championships, advancing to the tournament's semifinals, informs LETA.
The highest scorer for Latvia was Vineta Birina, who scored 21 points and pulled down 19 rebounds.
Latvia will now have to win one of its final two matches, either the semifinal match of the match for third place, to ensure itself a place in Division A next year.
Only the top three teams in the tournament will be promoted to Division A.
The Latvian U-18 women's team is the only Latvian youth basketball team (both men's and women's) participating in a B Division tournament this summer.
