The event organizers estimate that the first "Night of Churches" that took place in Riga this year, gathered more than 20,000 people together, as the "Night of Churches" board member Sintija Sproge informed LETA.

Task force representative, Jurgis Klotins said that organizers had wished to address those visitors, who might have come to church for the first time ever.

"It was important for us that the visitors saw how interesting a church can be – its values, the sounds of organ and choir, architecture, the life of congregation and the fact that a person is always welcome in a church and can find God's support in his or her life," Klotins said.

He revealed that the large number of visitors this year, has inspired the organizers to plan the next "Night of Churches", which will take place in 2015. The organizers expect that next year, the event will also take place in other cities of Latvia as well. This year the event was celebrated in Valmiera, Rubene and Vangazi as well.

During the "Church Night", choirs and soloists sang spirituals, gospel and sacred music in 43 churches in Riga for six hours.
