Estonia's national team for Sochi Olympics confirmed

The Estonian Olympic Committee's executive committee confirmed on Thursday the names of the 23 members of the Estonian national team for the Sochi Winter Olympics, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

 

Head of the Estonian delegation Martti Raju said that 13 of the athletes participate at their first Olympic games. "A generation is changing and it creates hopes that in Sochi, Estonians compete in more fields than during the previous Winter Olympics in 2010 in Vancouver," said Raju.

 

The biathlon team includes four women: Kadri Lehtla, Darja Jurlova, Grete Gaim and Johanna Talihärm and five men: Indrek Tobreluts, Kauri Kõiv, Roland Lessing, Daniil Stepchenko and Kalev Ermits.

 

The participating cross-country skiers include Triin Ojaste, Aivar Rehemaa, Peeter Kümmel, Karel Tammjärv and Algo Kärp.

 

The team includes Nordic combined athletes Kristjan Ilves, Han Hendrik Piho and Karl-August Tiirmaa and ski jumpers Kaarel Nurmsalu and Siim-Tanel Sammelselg.

 

The team includes two Alpine skiers: Triin Tobi and Warren Cummings Smith. In figure skating, Estonia will be represented by Jelena Glebova in women's singles and Viktor Romanenkov n men's singles.

 

The Estonian flag will be carried at the opening ceremony of the Olympics by biathlonist Indrek Tobreluts who participates at his 5th Olympic games.
