Summer of Baltic culture opens in Schleswig-Holstein

On Monday in Kiel, Germany, an official ceremony opened the Schleswig-Holstein Summer of Culture, devoted this year to the three Baltic States, informs LETA.
Making speeches were Dr. Eberhard Schmidt-Elsaesser, State Secretary at the Ministry for Justice, Culture and European Affairs, and Latvian Ambassador Ilgvars Klava. Both underlined the diverse array of Baltic arts for the festival.
Ambassador Klava specifically opened a photography exhibit – a German-Baltic group show.
The opening ceremony was highlighted by a musical video bridge featuring soprano Martina Derring and pianist Aivars Kalejs.
The festival will continue till September.
