Latvian woman jumps off a bridge into Venta River with two children; both children found dead

Overnight in Ventspils (northwestern Latvia), a woman jumped off a bridge into the Venta River with two young children – both boys aged two and three. The woman survived the jump, while both boys were found dead.
As LETA was informed by the State Fire and Rescue Service, the tragic incident took place at around 3:00 a.m. early this morning.
Municipal police officers were able to rescue the woman (born 1986) from the river, while the bodies of both boys (born 2010 and 2011) were found dead.
A criminal process has been started.
