The Latvian national women's basketball team, in a crucial preliminary stage group game at the 2013 European Women's Basketball Championship, lost a tough one to Serbia 62:56, and failed to advance further, informs LETA.

On June 15 and 16, the Latvian team lost to France and Great Britain.

The top three teams in each of the four groups advance to the next round.

The quarterfinals will be played from June 26 to 27, semifinals – June 28, whilst the finals and the game for third place will be played on June 30.

This year's tournament is also the qualification tournament for the 2014 World Championships. The teams finishing from 1st through 5th place will qualify for the 2014 World Women's Basketball Championships in Turkey.
